Center Lathe
A center lathe is a type machine that rotates a workpiece around its own axis. Center lathes are used for precision machining of cylindrical shapes. Manual Lathes

Turning Process

Turning is the process of removing material from a solid object. In the case of a lathe, the material removed is called chips. Chips are created by the cutting tool as it passes over the workpiece. Chips are ejected out of the lathe and fall onto a chip catcher. The chip catcher collects the chips and transports them to a bin. The chips are then either recycled or disposed of.

Types of Lathes
There are three basic types of lathes: horizontal, vertical, and turret. Horizontal lathes have their axis parallel to the floor. Vertical lathes have their axis perpendicular to the floor. Turret lathes have their axis at an angle between horizontal and vertical.

Spindles
Spindles are the rotating shafts that connect the motor to the spindle. Spindles are generally made of cast iron, carbon steel, or alloy steel. Spindles are often hollow and filled with oil to reduce friction. Spindles are designed to withstand the high torque generated by the motors.
